Cover Story: The increase in global population and an escalating demand for animal protein are posing a strain on food systems, leading to environmental damage, resource depletion, and public health concerns. Sustainable protein sources, such as plant-based, fungal, insect, and algal proteins, are crucial for addressing these challenges. As the world is transitioning towards alternative protein sources, ensuring their quality has an immense value to meet metabolic needs and support body protein growth, studying the postprandial amino acid kinetics is crucial for determining a protein source's anabolic potential. Understanding these kinetics after consuming alternative proteins is vital for developing optimal nutrition strategies and creating nutrition products designed to maximize muscle protein synthesis. View this paper
