Sport Cardiology

The focus of the “Sports Cardiology” Section is on advances in the research in fields related to exercise, sports, and cardiovascular care of athletes as well as exercising individuals of all ages, including, but not limited to, the following:

• Investigating standards of the cardiovascular screening and evaluation of individuals on any level of sports, from recreational to high-level competition sports;
• Defining standards related to exercise;
• Understanding the physical demands of competitive sports;
• Investigating and understanding the physiological heart adaptations to exercise;
• Preventing sudden cardiac death in athletes;
• Investigating standards of cardiac rehabilitation and exercise prescription;
• Researching the best management of athletes and individuals with heart disease;
• Implementing cardiac emergency action plans for competitive sports events and venues.

Papers in this Section are expected to represent significant advances in sports cardiology and exercise that would be of interest to a broad audience.
